Are you looking for a new way to draw more consumers into your store, restaurant, or hotel? Do you need to show off a private rental space to help boost your income? Customers continuously go online first for research before deciding whether to purchase a product or visit a location. While searching, it is been shown in research that consumers tend to go directly to Google as the number 1 stop. When your location is stumbled upon (or directly searched for) in Google, your business information, photos, phone numbers, and website populate for the consumer to see.
The more content you add to that page, the easier it is for someone to make a decision to purchase. Every business’ main goal is to maximize profit. In order to maximize profit you need more customers. To get more customers, you should be easily found on any local search. Google developed a way to bring your customers directly into your store before they even make the trip. By adding a professional virtual tour directly to your business, you can increase your credibility. Take this recent submission from a Google Business Photos client for example:
“One week after my tour was published, a man walked into my store. He walks straight over to an item on the back shelf and comes to the register to pay. He then tells me ‘I have been looking for this for months, and when I saw your tour on Google+ Local, I jumped in my car and drove 2 hours to get this.’ ~And his purchase paid for my Google profile upgrade.”
Google finally has released the specifications for the awaited Google Glass. As a part of the Glass Explorer program, this is a very exciting release! This new wearable technology is going to advance our culture to a new level. With all of the potential developers already coming up with new apps and uses, it is sure to be a huge hit.
Here’s what we are ‘looking at’:
Resolution: “equivalent of a 25-inch- high definition screen from eight feet away”+
*rather decent for a piece of glass*
Camera: 5 megapixels
Memory: 16 GB / 12 GB usable
Battery life: 1 full day of normal usage, although too much video and Google+ hangouts might make you wish for an unlimited battery
Charger: micro USB
If you haven’t done so already, do a search for #ifIhadGlass. Some of the developers, entrepreneurs, and visionaries have some amazing and life changing ideas for Glass. I am excited to see how the Virtual Reality world is going to play into this. Now, cameras are able to capture entire spheres of a scene and computers can blend it so that you can emerse yourself somewhere completely new. Imagine if you could say, “Glass, what does the Great Wall of China look like?”, to receive an answer “Like this.”… One simple command, and you’re looking at the Great Wall of China from a pair of glasses on your head.
This is going to make finding a product in a local Portland business that much easier.
+ as reported from NBC’s Rosa Golijan
Many business owners often mention something like “‘Google keeps calling me about updating my listing or something…’
They appear frustrated because the calls keep coming, are confusing and high pressure.
I’m the guy standing in front of them with my official ID – they finally [have] someone to ask about these calls!
Google isn’t calling you.
Every one of these calls I’ve tracked down have been from unscrupulous companies claiming to be Google, when in fact they are trying to sell you overpriced services of questionable value. They’ll make claims about guaranteeing to get you on the first page of Google, trying to rope you into a high priced contract for a year or more. Oh, and which credit card are you going to use? They’ll need that number, too!
Google doesn’t usually phone businesses to update you listing. If you spent a lot (and I mean A LOT) of money on Google Adwords advertising, you’ll have an account manager who you already know. They might call but it is rare – email is the preferred tool to communicate with you.
Google didn’t call you!
Often they want to set up or optimize your Google+ Local Business page. It is important to do, but you can easily do it yourself or have someone on your staff take care of it. In fact, that’s one of the benefits I offer when I produce Google Inside Views of businesses using Street View technology – I provide the information and tools to effectively optimize and manage your Google+ Local business page.
While there is no way to stop these annoying telemarketing calls that falsely claim to be from Google, don’t waste your time on them. Say goodbye, hang up, waste their time with foolish questions – just don’t take them seriously and give them your credit card information!
Google didn’t call you to update your listing.”
